Is it common to be denied coverage for a Tradition Plus Hospital Program insurance coverage?
Q. I applied for myself as a 35 year old female for hospital only insurance coverage through blue cross blue shield. I don't smoke and I am healthy with only borderline high blood pressure. Is there a reason I would be denied?

A. This is a question you need to ask your agent. There could be many reasons for a decline - the high blood pressure could be the reason (what you think as borderline may be above their guidelines), you might be out of the height and weight guidelines or there could be something else in your records.

What insurance company provides the best supplimental coverage for the 65 and over person?
Q. I need to obtain Supplemental medical insurance as I am approaching age 65. What is the least problematic way to get necessary information on coverage without dealing with an agent of the companies. What questions should I be asking and how do I do a cost comparisence. It , so far, sounds like I will be paying the same amount for all the necessary coverage, that I am paying now. Please give me some questions to ask or how to make this easier !

A. Well, it's on a state by state basis. Not all supplemental plans are offered in all states, and coverages vary by state, also. Your BEST bet is to have a sit-down with the guy who writes your auto and homeowners insurance, and ask him about it. He can ALSO do a cost/coverage comparison, and will have working knowledge of the specifics of your state.

What is the difference between PIP and Medical Coverage?
Q. I am trying to educate myself on how car insurance works and I found these 2 "different" kinds of coverage, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and regular Medical Coverage. The way I have seen them both defined is almost identical. What are the differences between these 2, can you get them both, and if so what benefits would having both policies have? Thanks!

A. Personal Injury Protection or PIP is a type of no fault coverage that is available in many states and may or may not be optional. PIP can include coverage for medical bills, loss of income, funeral expenses and other types of expenses such as to have a home aide to help you while recuperating. Medical Payments Coverage is strictly limited to coverage for medical bills and may or may not be available in some states and may or may not be optional.
