From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In law and economics, insurance is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent, uncertain loss. Insurance is defined as the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another, in exchange for payment. An insurer is a company selling the insurance; an insured or policyholder is the person or entity buying the insurance policy. The insurance rate is a factor used to determine the amount to be charged for a certain amount of insurance coverage, called the premium. Risk management, the practice of appraising and controlling risk, has evolved as a discrete field of study and practice. The transaction involves the insured assuming a guaranteed and known relatively small loss in the form of payment to the insurer in exchange for the insurer's promise to compensate (indemnify) the insured in the case of a large, possibly devastating loss. The insured receives a contract called the insurance policy which details the conditions and circumstances under which the insured will be compensated. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "insured" How do I go about getting my ring insured? Q. I just got engaged over the weekend and a lot of people at work today are telling me I should get my ring insured. My fiance got paperwork from the jeweler where he got the ring but it's supposed to go through our homeowners insurance company... but we don't own a home. So how do we go about insuring my ring? Asked by GAF - Mon Nov 10 14:45:32 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. First you must get it appraised. That value and certificate is what the insurance company asks for. If you don't own a home, you can add it to your renters insurance. We have USAA and ours is $3 per value of $2500 so pay about $14 a month to insure my ring. It's really easy to get it insured but you must have it appraised first. The store only insures if the diamond falls out or it needs to be re sized, things of that matter...it wont do anything if the ring is lost or stolen. That's where renters insurance comes into place. Answered by Blondee - Mon Nov 10 15:25:16 2008 Does a motorist have to be insured for the car they are immediately in? Q. My girlfriend is going to drive my car on a long drive. She is insured, but on a plan that covers her own car, not on my insurance. Could this be a problem if anything happens? My car is insured with me as a driver. Asked by gemadness - Sun Oct 8 20:53:25 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Insurance follows cars, not people. So if you have insurance and she's driving with your permssion, your coverage extends to her. Answered by Chris - Sun Oct 8 22:17:23 2006 In Texas, can you get a motorcycle you bought insured and inspected with only a bill of sale?
Q. In other words, you have purchased a bike with no title. (I know the dangers of this already, thanks). But the seller gave you a bill of sale. Can you get it insured and inspected with only a bill of sale? How about registration? Suzi, I already know that. It was not what I asked at all. Asked by - - Fri Oct 3 18:02:07 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You will need to go to DMV with the bill of sale. They can run a check on the bike and make sure of ownership. The seller may have to sign some forms but you should be able to get a title. Baring any problems with ownership and signatures, once the bike is in your name you can get it insured.
