Why do liberal students in California protest tution fee hikes, but support ObamaCare?
Q. The fee increases would be balanced by a raise in "the level of financial assistance for needy low- and middle-income students," according to a statement from the Board of Regents. The tuition hike is expected to raise $505 million for the university system, and about $175 million of that money would go toward financial aid for low-income students, the board said. *** In other words, liberals, tuition hikes on wealthy students are necessary to subsidize low-income students - but this is exactly what ObamaCare is going to achieve.

What is the most important thing that students expect from their teachers?
Q. Teachers are often ineffective because they do not understand their students. When teachers and students operate at different frequencies, both get frustrated and unproductivity sets in. Good teachers know what students expect and work sincerely to fulfill students' needs. They deliberately engage in activities that would build and strengthen their students' potential. However, many times, communication between them are closed and teachers have no way of knowing what students 'really' expect from them. An open communication will help prevent this ill-practice at schools.

A. The most important thing is for the teacher to have a high expectation from their students. When the students are aware of that the teacher believes in their abillity the possibilities are endless. A child will respond if you have faith in him/her if not they shut down. Simple faith opens up all routes of communication. Take the example of the Kipp Academy...

What are ways college students can eat healthy when they are on a budget?
Q. For many college students like myself, eatting healthy is not always possible and many college students are on a shoe string budget for groceries and many students end up eatting food they do not like. This food can include Ramen Noodles, Canned Food, Frozen Food, and eatting fast food such as pizza and hamburgers. What kind of advice would you give to college students to eat healthy when they are on a budget for food and groceries?
Asked by Mr. Knowledgeable VI - Thu Apr 17 00:43:06 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. fruits and veggies are a lot cheaper than eating out. try spicing up your noodles with small peices of meat and veggies, kinda like a little stir fry. it's healthier and yummier. Also, milk, eggs, and flour can make thousands of different foods. For example, Swedish Pancakes. Add a little cinnamin and jam or fruit, they're delicious and healthy! I eat those for dinner sometimes. You can get billions of recipes online that only require those three ingredients, plus whatever you want to add to it. It's simple to eat healthy on a tight budget. It's also cheaper to eat healthier!

When will international students learn that Australia is NOT a racist country?
Q. Ok, I find it very ironic how international students accuse Australia of being a 'racist' nation, when the Australian government is making great efforts to give international students appropriate accommodation in Australia. Of course, I have more points to make my question more understood. Fact 1: The Australian government allows international students to come and study at Australian universities, meanwhile many other countries DO NOT offer the same opportunities. Fact 2: The Australian government developed English classes to help international students to develop better English speaking skills. However, some international students are reluctant to learn English, instead they bribe other people to complete their English essays for them. [cont.]

A. Forget the international students. I am totally embarrassed for the Aussies out there that seem to think that the REAL indigenous Australians can be treated like second class citizens and that racist attittudes towards them is acceptable. I feel that a lot of Aussies that are perceived as racist aren't actually racist but are afraid to go against the racist opinions of others (not always racist opinions, maybe bigotry or ignorance). I've seen it a thousand times where a group of Aussies band together and denigrate another group of people, whether it be New Zealanders, English, Americans or whoever. Whenever a question about "Australia's racist attitude" is asked all the answerers say that it is just a minority of Aussies that are like that… [cont.]

What has gone wrong with university students that has caused so many to become petty jerks?
Q. I've encountered two types of students: 1. Community college students, whom I found on average to be reasonable people. Just a few are jerks. 2. University students and recent graduates of universities. I am amazed at how they go out of their way to show disrespect, to backstab, to be petty and find fault. Why do I see such a difference between community college students and university students?

How many students drink neither milk nor coffee?
Q. A school has 800 students. Of these, 400 students drink milk and 300 students drink coffee. 150 students drink both milk and coffee. How many students drink neither milk nor coffee?
Asked by Sehar J - Sun Feb 3 15:19:09 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Let's represent this as a set. The universal is 800. If 400 people drink milk, that means 150 of them must also drink coffee, as that amount is in the intersection set. The same goes for coffee. From this we can gather that 250 drink milk only and 150 drink coffee only. Milk only=250 add coffee only(150) = 400 Add intersection = 550 Subtract from 800=250 Your answer is 250.

How should university students do to choose their subjects?
Q. Some ones think university students should only study one specialist subject. Others think the universities should encourage the students to learn a range of subjects in addition to a specialist area. Give your opinion?

A. In my first year I was allowed to pick from a range of subjects (I could pick 4 in total from about 12). In my second and third years it was more specialised. That is the best way, imo.

A. Students' privacy and anonimity have become essential to their safety and well-being in these difficult times. The names of pupils attending a certain school should not be disclosed directly or indirectly outside the school environment and particularly on the internet. Once the name of a pupil has been provided in connection with a specific school on an official website that is open to all, he or she is easily trackable and anyone with ill intent knows where to get hold of this particular student and harass him/her; it might give information to a paedophile or, in the case of parental separations, the ability to get hold of the child despite a court order forbiding access. This is also why press releases about a student's particular… [cont.]

A. "only like two students" I know you're flustered, but don't use 'like' unless you are describing something or talking about preference. That's the die-hard English teacher in me talking. As for getting students to participate, there are ways to do that. You can use a ticket system. Give them each two or three slips of paper, and each time they answer a question you take the slip of paper and give them either "bonus points" (they love to think they're getting something extra!) or a piece of candy or a token that allows a wrong answer on a test not to be counted and boosts their grade. Another way is to spice up your instruction. You might have fallen into a rut during your frustration. Kids love new things and playing games. My… [cont.]
